Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a story that takes place in 16th century Germany , specifically after the 1550’s. I took inspiration from traditional German clothing such as lederhosen and dirndls. Taking creative liberty for functionality I decided to exclude the apron on the dirndl because these cast members have a safety critical role. The lederhosen is made up of two pickaxes, a traditional tool used by miners, connecting in the front.
Showcasing our most important key of inclusion I wanted to highlight Disney’s ESR (Extended Size Range) by making the man someone of shorter stature. The patterns of apples and gems are in the industry standard repeat size of 6.375. However, working as a CA for Disney Cruise Lines I know that the scale of the pattern will have to change depending upon the size of the costume. Both patterns are accented with green, which symbolized the German environmental movement in the 1980’s. With Disney's conservation efforts and drive to help the environment I felt using the green would not only be a nod to history but also to the company's efforts.
